Hi Roly,

Good to hear from you. Wondered where you'd disappeared to after my emails to your ABN account bounced.

We're now living near Oxford and have a new(ish) arrival - Sam.

The Istrian peninsula is a very interesting and pretty area. I went there about 20 years ago, when we still knew of it as Yugoslavia (how times change), but the amphitheatre and sights still look the same, if a bit less touristy.

I look forward to the other sights you visit.

Hi Roland,

Good to see you've made it to go and travel. I'm looking forward to your Far East adventures and I'm curious how you will get there from Eastern Europe...

Good luck,
Danny

Hey Roly... fantastic blog matey.. I'll be coming back from time to time for updates!!

It's a long way off of Golden Lane eh!! I'm due back with Ben in Zurich in August, so when you've finished your globetrotting we'll have to meet up for beers.

I keep checking for the Wales fixtures in the World Cup.. but don't seem to be able to find them anywhwere!!?! :-)

Enjoy your travels mate, beats the rat-race eh!

Take it easy, Jon.

PS - If you end up in the Goa region I've got the apartment out there so I could fedex the keys out to you.

Hi Roly,
Fascinated to read the story so far - I love your style ;). I'd been wondering how I could let you know I was thinking about you, hoping it is living up to expectations and you're still safe, sound and in once piece.
Laura.

Hiya butty. Hard to keep up with you at this rate. Any tips on cheapish Odessa hotels? My appetite has been whetted and I'm trying to gauge how much cash I'll need.

Also, did you see any Russian language schools over there? Been hoping to do a weeks' course there.

Dear Roland,
We were introduced to your weblog by Danny Martens who is a friend of us. We plan to travel by bike from Iran to China, through Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgizie). Looking at the updates from the Ministeries of Foreign Affairs however, it doesn't appear to be stable and safe. Also worse than last year. Since you have travelled these countries recently, we were hoping you could give us some information on the possibilities of travel in this region. Do you think travelling by bike is doable in these countries?
We plan to leave in May / April.

Thank you in advance and enjoy your travel.
Kind regards,

Emiel Oswald and Rianne de Groot

Hello Emiel & Rienne,
In short, Central Asia to China is not as problematic, difficult or dangerous as we are be led to believe from the press, media, governments, MOFAs etc... These countries are full of wonderful people, experiences and places to see... Perhaps you need to be a little adventurous to travel that route, but the fact you are even considering it is enough to suggest you'll be fine. E-mail me at roland@harris.demon.nl and I'll tell you all that I can... gr, Roland

The Paddy Field?

Really, they wouldn't call an Irish bar in China that, would they?

Make sure the mini DHL invasion behave themselves!

Saw you just behind John PFC Westwood during the second half. I hope that you were downwind from him!

You must have been one of the few Pompey fans not wearing a Pompey shirt.

Looking forward to your blog on this.

Saw the second half in a scum pub - won't be able to do this on Friday due to work.
